President
Katherine E. Putnam is President of Package Machinery Company Inc. a manufacturer of flexible packaging machinery for consumer products. Customers include many major consumer products companies including Unilever, TopFlite, 3M, Hershey, General Mills, Tootsie Roll, and Sara Lee among others. Package is a technology leader in the global wrapping market and, in 2001, was first to market with a servo-driven machine. The Company specializes in wrapping machinery for food, confectionery, office supplies and personal care. Package prides itself on being innovative, collaborative and honest in its dealing with customers, vendors and employees. Kate has a background in corporate banking in New York, corporate treasury for a Fortune 500 company and consulting to small businesses. She led the investor group that purchased Package in 1996. She is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College (BA History) and New York University’s Stern School of Business (MBA Finance). She serves as a trustee of Baystate Health and board member of the Food Bank of Western MA. She also serves on the board of Associated Industries of Massachusetts (AIM). She is a member of the Women President’s Organization and the Boston Club. She sits on the WBENC Certification Committee for the Center for Women & Enterprise and is a trustee of the Pioneer Valley Plan for Progress. She is also a member of the advisory board of Parkinson Technologies. Kate is married and the mother of three. She lives in western Massachusetts with her husband and one remaining school-age child, together with their chickens, cats and dogs.
