Prompted by Governor Deval Patrick's recent proposal to help small businesses with rising health care costs, which he billed as a "conversation starter," the PBLN's Healthcare/Life Sciences Working Group will focus on this emerging and critical policy discussion.
Guest speakers include Greg Bialecki, Massachusetts Secretary of Housing and Economic Development, Lynn Nicholas, President/CEO of the Massachusetts Hospital Association, and Sarah Iselin, President, Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation, and former Commissioner of the Massachusetts Division of Health Care Finance and Policy.
PBLN will be hosted by our Healthcare & Life Sciences Working Group Co-Chairs, Jim Roosevelt (President/CEO, Tufts Health Plan) and the discussion will be moderated by Joshua Boger (Founder/former CEO, Vertex Pharmaceuticals)
We will also hear from Philip J. Edmundson (Chairman/CEO, William Gallagher Associates) about how business leaders can participate in an effort to remove the Massachusetts sales tax exemption for soda and candy in order to address healthcare costs; and the meeting will also include a briefing on the federal health reform effort by Kate Auspitz, (Issues Director for U.S. Representative Michael E. Capuano).
